What a couple of weeks it’s been for Yield App! First Korea Blockchain Week (KWB2023) at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul last week, then Singapore for one of the biggest events in the annual blockchain calendar – TOKEN2049!

KBW2023

Our CEO Tim Frost and Jeff Owens, Co-Founder of Haven1, had a successful week in Korea, meeting with several innovative projects, venture firms and angel investors. The jam-packed event was spread across a spacious venue with an outdoor area during the day and tons of side events at night, anywhere from underground bars to rooftop terraces.

Overall, despite being in the heat of a bear market, the sentiment among the crypto community was strong. Multiple forums asked esteemed speakers whether or not they see a bull market coming in the near future and the unanimous answer was "Yes".

The event welcomed notable speakers like Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, and Polygon Labs Co-Founder Sandeep Nailwal, to name just a few.

Standout side events included the OpenEden and DWF Labs event at Dears, complete with a stunning rooftop view of the Seoul Tower. Meanwhile, Avalanche House, which took place at the Floating Island Convention center, capped off a successful week on Thursday.

TOKEN2049

Without a moment’s pause, it was straight to Singapore for Tim. He was joined by Sawan Kapoor, who’s in charge of partnerships and investment at Haven1, as well as Peter Hulks, Yield App's Head of Relationship Management.

Hosted at the iconic Marina Bay Sands, the mammoth TOKEN2049 event welcomed more than 10,000 attendees, 300 speakers and over 400 side events.

Notable panels included a discussion about the institutional adoption of digital assets and blockchain where Jenny Johnson, CEO and President of Franklin Templeton, spoke about the company’s spot bitcoin ETF application and bringing a money market fund on-chain.

She remained bullish but said that while bitcoin has the power to disrupt traditional business models, it was a distraction from other advantages that blockchain technology brings into the traditional financial world. Overall, panel participants agreed that the bear market is coming to an end.

The event was also an opportunity for media coverage, and Tim was interviewed by the premier crypto news site, The Defiant. In a video interview, he told the journalists how he envisages the future of crypto and where Haven1 fits in.

Beyond TOKEN2049

Meanwhile, the side event parties took over Singapore’s bar scene and contributed to an electric atmosphere in the city. From major events hosted by Binance and OKX to smaller private gatherings, the entire city was buzzing with crypto enthusiasm.

The crypto buzz is set to continue into the weekend with OKX's sponsorship of the Formula 1 race. Partnered with McLaren, OKX was handing out McLaren swag at its booth during the event.

As this incredible fortnight comes to an end, with hundreds of new Telegram contacts and dozens of exciting conversations, we ask ourselves: bear market, what bear market? It certainly doesn’t feel like one!
