Trade of the Week
The recent trading range finally broke, and BTC almost touched the $60,000 level. Implied volatility has picked up given the recent move. Therefore, Dual Currency pricings are looking more attractive.
Over the past week, the majority of the trades were in Buy-Low BTC with buy levels around 60,000 to 62,000 levels.
In the near term, I'm still biased towards the short side. Over the past few months, the hype over cryptocurrencies has attracted many new players who hoped to ride the bull market wave. However, for a meaningful long-term rally, these positions need to be washed out first. Therefore, I’m expecting a volatile market ahead. My recommendation is to manage your risk accordingly, and do not over-invest.

Knowledge Sharing - How Buy-Low Dual Currency Can Be Considered as an Observed-at-Maturity Limit Order and What's the Difference vs. a Regular Limit Order
Buy Limit Order:
Buy limit orders are commonly used in trading. You set a purchase price lower than the current market price for an asset. You can cancel this type of order anytime before it's filled.
Buy-Low Dual Currency:
As highlighted in our previous newsletter, this strategy lets you potentially purchase a crypto asset at a price below the current market rate while earning a high yield. It functions like a limit order that only checks the price at the end of the investment period.
Major Differences vs Regular Buy Limit Order:
Observation at Maturity: In a dual currency setup, the price check happens only at maturity. The asset’s price during the investment period is irrelevant; only the price at the end matters.
Cancellation: Once you commit to a buy-low dual currency product, you cannot cancel it. In contrast, regular limit orders can be canceled or changed at any time.
Yield: Dual currency investments can provide high annual yields, an advantage not available with regular limit orders.
The Strategy:
Imagine Bitcoin is currently priced at $63,000 and then drops to $50,000. You might see this as a good chance to buy, but a sudden market drop could cause panic, leading you to cancel a typical limit order. The buy-low dual currency setup commits you to buying at $50,000 if that's the price at maturity, helping you avoid hasty decisions based on fear. However, risks include Bitcoin falling further or not dropping to your target price of $50,000 if it rebounds before the maturity date. Therefore, allocating about 10%-15% of your stablecoin holdings to this strategy might help manage these risks while aiming for potential returns.
